O Canada...

This past week, I had the opportunity to travel home to Canada for my best friend's wedding.

It was so much fun to be there for the wedding, and for a few extra days to spend with my mom and dad. Beckett had a great time getting to know his Grandma and Grandpa Hall a little bit better. Needless to say, we took a ton of pictures, so this is my attempt at showing all of you the best ones... (and some random ones of him smiling too, just cause they're so dang cute!)

As for a brief travel log, I flew out on Thursday (the 4th) and Beckett traveled like a champ. Slept the whole time. Beth, Dillon, Brennen and Steve all traveled up from Provo for the weekend, and it was wonderful to see all of them.

I love my Beth so much.

It was fun for them to get some extra ‘Beckett-time’.

On Friday I finished Scrapbooking Carrie’s wedding album, it took me longer than I thought it would to finish it, but eventually I got into town to see Carrie.

Her bridal shower was that night. There were a ton of people there, and we had such a good time.

Saturday-we had wedding festivities all day (note Beckett’s little outfit). Care put her nieces and nephews and Beckett in the same matching outfits. Cute!

On Sunday I went to church and chilled with mom and dad. Beckett loves his Grandpa Hall.

Monday, I hung out with some friends that I haven’t seen since high school. It was so fun—weird that some of us have kids now.

Tuesday, mom and I went shopping (Wal-mart rocks!)

and Wednesday I took Beckett in and got some professional pictures taken of him. It was so much fun!

On Thursday mom and dad took me back down to Great Falls where I flew out from. Again, Beckett did great and was a little trooper during our 9 hour trip back (3 hour drive to the airport, 1 hour sitting in that airport, 1 ½ hour flight to SLC, 1 ½ hour layover there, and then 2 hours back to LA.) It went way better than I’d imagined, and now I know that traveling with Beckett *can* be a breeze. It was a wonderful trip, and I’m so glad to have had some quality time with my mom and dad—just being at my house.

Also, I’m so happy for Carrie and Nick and was thrilled that I was able to be there for her. I love my Care-bear.

However, it was great to get back here to Nathan who was missing his little bug a ton (and Lacher who was missing her Blizzard buddies). Who wouldn't miss this little angel?

A boring post

Sorry, there's just not too much new going on in our lives. Beckett has been sick these last couple of days...came down with a cold and cough, so it's been kinda tough. It's so sad to see him sick. But he's being a little trooper.
A few days a week I take pictures of Beckett to send to Nathan at the office. It makes it seem like he's more a part of our lives throughout the weekdays. So, I am going to post some pictures that I have taken of Beckett lately. Sorry, they're not great. Usually I just take them to show Nathan what Beckett is wearing for the day.
Here's Beckett on a 'cold' day last week. Bundled him up in this sweet little sweater and touque from Barneys New York that Nathan's company sent us.
And here he is sporting an awesome onesie that Logan and Paula sent us from their trip to NYC in December.
This is the sweet little face I woke up next to yesterday. He was so cute I couldn't help but take some pictures.
And here is the little bug right now. The third picture was his reaction to the bright flashes from the camera. Awake enough just to stretch, and then right back asleep.
Other than that, all is well. This next week will be a sad one, as I am headed home for my best friends wedding (that's not sad) but we have to leave Nathan here all by his lonesome for a whole week. We're going to miss daddy so much! But I am excited to be home and see my family and house. I also just found out yesterday that my sister Beth is going to come home for it as well, and just thinking about it makes me giddy.
Anyway...life is great and we're all doing very well. Hopefully Beckett gets better soon. We'll keep you posted.

25 random facts about beckett

1. He loves his swing

4. His favorite time of day is when daddy comes home

5. This is his cutest outfit. I got it from a friend who designs clothes for The Childrens Place

8. He first smiled at his dad

9. At his 2 week check up he weighed 10 Lbs 3 oz and was 23 inches long

12. He has many places to hide dirt…3 rolls on his neck, 5 rolls on each leg, a couple on each arm…but the best rolls are the wrist rolls…

13. He is wearing 3-6 month clothes comfortably already, and has grown out of most of his 0-3 month stuff. (He’s not even 2 months yet)

21. Sometimes he’s not very photogenic

22. Sometimes his chin quivers involuntarily…doesn’t have a thing to do with his body temperature

23. He loves being in his car seat…get him in the car/stroller and he can’t help but fall asleep

24. My cousin Samantha thought that he was having a seizure one day because he doesn’t have very good motor control of his arms…he’s still trying to figure out that they’re connected to his body

25. Sometimes when having ‘tummy time’ he just face-plants into the blanket and thrashes his face back and forth while screaming…

Sweet Sweet Baby

On Saturday my friend Paige came over and took over 200 pictures of Beckett. It was so much fun to be creative with the photography, however, Beckett wasn't super cooperative, and about 90% of the pictures were of him crying. (Although, some of them were pretty dang cute.) He was a doll for a few minutes though, and we got a few good ones. The best are being saved for his birth announcement that I'm designing right now. If any of you don't think I have your address, please leave me a comment with it. I'll be sure to send you one.
Beckett is doing so well and continues to be our sweet little bug. (Don't you just want to kiss those cheeks!)

My Little Bug...

I've had some requests for an update, so here are some random pictures that I've taken lately. I love my little bug. Usually the pictures I take are of him sleeping, cause he spends the majority of his time doing that, but the second picture is of him actually awake...just chillin in his little swing. He was being such a champ that day. I was working on a project that I'm doing for Carrie's wedding, and so I just sat him in that chair while I was working. He hung out there for a good 45 minutes, being so good until he finally fell asleep. What a sweetie.
Carrie and Nick came to town last weekend and we had a great time hanging out, getting to know Nick. He's a pretty hilarious guy. He and Nathan bonded instantly, and Carrie and I had an awesome time just being together. I miss her...she lives too far away. I'm so grateful that they made the effort to come here and see us. This picture is taken at Jack Sprats--where Rachell works.

My Chunky Monkey

I just had to post these pictures to show you all how 'well nourished' this little guy is. I love him so much!

Family

Well...I promised to post pictures of when the family was here. It was such a fun weekend, and I didn't want it to end. Beckett was so spoiled, being held almost every minute. It's a hard gig to keep up. Anyway, we had a great time together and I am so happy that everyone was able to meet Beckett. Tyler was so cute with Beckett. For those of you who haven't heard--he and Juliana are expecting their first at the end of August and he was so excited to have a baby to hold. He's going to be a great dad.
We had dinner with the whole family at Dan and Paula's and it was such a fun time to see everyone and enjoy our time all together. We couldn't have asked for better weather.
I loved to see Beth and Beckett together. I love my beautiful sister so much!
Nothing like seeing your daddy holding your baby. It was awesome. When he and Mom first showed up, he was so excited to see Beckett. His smile said it all...
Dillon was a little apprehensive about holding Beckett at first, but he did great! Also, to update you all, he just received his mission call this week. He will be serving in the Nirobe Kenya Mission. (can't spell that...sorry)
Michelle Thompson and Purple (aka Elizabeth). Peter and Michelle have been great friends to Nathan and I and we love spending time with them.
Finally-Grandma Hall. Beckett sure loves his Grandma. And I appreciate all of her time and energy helping me learn how to be a mom. It was great having her here twice.
So...there it is. Sorry about all the pictures. I love my family so much and it was wonderful to see them all and to spend a few days together.

Did you miss me?

The morning of the 29th (about 3:30am)

Is he asleep or awake?

"I'm hungry mom!"

Chilling on Dad's lap

Beckett is already so well mannered.

Finally I've got this whole mothering thing figured out well enough to find a few minutes to get back on this computer and let you know how I'm doing. It's been so long since I've published anything on here...Nathan has done a fabulous job of keeping everyone updated.
So...life is great! I love being a mom. It is the best job in the world. That may have something to do with the fact that I have a great baby who sleeps a lot and rarely fusses. He pretty much just sleeps and eats. But he is 'thriving'. His two week check up was on Wednesday and he now weighs in at 10Ibs 3oz, and is 23 inches long. He's in the 99th percentile for length.
My recovery has gone remarkably well...I remember sitting in the hospital the day after he was born thinking, 'man...how am I going to do this all by myself...I can't even get out of bed.' However, the body knows what it's doing, and a couple days after being home I was feeling like my normal self (with an extra few pounds added on). Every day gets better and we're getting into more of a routine as Beckett learns his nights from days.
It has been so great to have Rachell here. She is doing so well...has found two jobs and continues to amaze me with her independence. She is a very brave girl (she braved the student ward all by herself, walked around LA and found two jobs, and has made several friends already). She is also a great help to me. I appreciate all of her love and her support!
My whole family is in LA this weekend. Last night Tyler, Juliana, Beth and Dillon got here and Mom and Dad arrive tonight. I am so excited to have them here and I'll be sure to post some pictures of the weekend. I was so excited for them all to meet little Beckett, and right now I'm most excited to see my Daddy holding my baby.
Anyway, here are a few updated pictures for you all to see. I'm also including the one I took right before I delivered. This was the peak of my biggness...can you believe there is almost a 10 pounder in there!?!?!?

Bath time for Beckett

We took pictures of Beckett getting a bath Saturday night. His umbilical cord still hasn't fallen off, so he can't be submerged. He handled it pretty well until we had to clean out the fat rolls.

After the bath, we dressed him in this suit and hat to get him warmed up. Lindsay thought he looked like a sherpa.

Beckett is definitely putting on weight. He was single-chinned when he was born, and now there's a second one coming on. His two-week checkup is Wednesday.

The First Week

The New and Improved Roberts Family

It's almost been a week since little Beckett arrived, and it has been fabulous. I've been sleeping quite well, thank you, though I can't speak for Lindsay or Grandma Hall. I did take care of the little fellow last night, and was only up for about 45 minutes besides feedings. We have to confess that, against the advice of the experts, we kept Beckett in bed with us. He slept a lot better this way, but the real reason was my own selfishness. I miss the little guy! I went back to work Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and it was miserable to leave him.
Lindsay is recovering well. She is a great mom and has handled all of the changes happily. It's been a blessing to have Grandma Hall and Rachell here, and we are grateful for their willingness to help. Grandma Hall has been the chief night-time caregiver, allowing Lindsay to recover more quickly.

Some more Baby

I've been staring at this picture all day at work. Lindsay took it this morning.
