I am finally getting some pictures uploaded of us with Logan a couple of weekends ago. If you want to read the much more eloquent and thorough version of the weekend check out Logan's blog.
It was such a fun weekend-Logan and I kept his coming to town a secret from Nathan, and it was so fun to surprise him. I love surprises. He said that Logan was the last person he expected to see huddled down in the backseat with Beckett. Beckett was thrilled that he got to meet his oldest Uncle (as displayed by the video two posts back). The weekend was full of fun-we had a great time at Venice beach, spending Saturday evening at The Magic Castle, and Logan and Nathan had fun killing each other in Halo. Silly boys. It amazes me what a strong and deep relationship Nathan and Logan have. From what I know of the years they spent growing up together, it seems that they have always been close. From beating on each other in the early years, to high school football games, then on to college roomies and best men at each others weddings, they have been through a lot together. Over the past 2 years, they have lived on opposite ends of the country, however, I haven't seen a decline in their love and respect for one another, even though they have spent less than 1/24 of their time together. They have a relationship that I hope my boys will have someday. It is because of Nathan and Logan that I hope to have another little boy next (maybe not quite as close in age as they are-but you know...) It was really great to see you, Uncle Logan. Thanks for making the effort to come out and see us. We had such a fun time. Love you!

If you're going to San Francisco...

On Memorial day weekend Nathan and I decided that we needed to take advantage of his day off and so we decided to head up to San Francisco. We both had never been there before, and we've decided that we need to see the sights of California before we're not here anymore. Anyway-we took off after Nathan got finished with work and made the 7 hour journey north. Beckett did great and it was fun to be together for the ride. Finally we made it to our friends house in Berkley where we bunked for the weekend. On Saturday we got up and went into San Francisco. It is such an awesome city! I tell you, LA is lame compared to San Fran. There was just so much to do and see. We visited Ghiradelli square, Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, and saw the bush man. We ate clam chowder in the sourdough bowls and had a famous Ghiradelli Sundae. It was awesome. The rest of the weekend we spent just hanging with our friends, the Gundersons. It was fun walking around Berkley, visiting Telegraph ave to buy some fun jewelry from some hippies, and just being together.

Beckett didn't quite know what to think. It was a little colder than it is here in LA.
This is just a random shot of the city.
The bush man. (He hides and then scares people as they walk by...hilarious!)

one more time...let me know if it works

This video is of Logan and Beckett playing together right after Logan got to Cali. It was seriously the first interaction they had together. Beckett was loving Logan right off the start. I have honestly never seen him giggle this much at a time. Usually he will laugh a little when I kiss his belly, but he just kept laughing and laughing-and this wasn't even the whole of it. I finally realized that I should be recording it, so I got in on it about half way through. Anyway-it's adorable. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

More Sweet Beckett

We have a lot to update you on, but you'll have to wait for it. For now, a picture of our sweet little boy to tide you over. Hopefully it's enough.
Soon to come:

no more mullet man

I have been meaning to post something about this, but couldn't find our camera cord to download the pictures. About a week ago Nathan and I decided that Beckett needed a makeover. The mullet needed to leave. So Nathan got out his clippers and performed the greatest haircut of his career. It was perfect. Here are the pictures to prove it.
Before...
During...
Nathan's intense concentration...
After...and don't worry, we saved the hair!
Also, just for your viewing pleasure, I have included these pictures.
This was a couple weeks ago. It was getting later on in the morning and I hadn't heard from him. When I walked into his bedroom this is what I found.

These pictures document our first outing in the jogging stroller. Beckett loved it. We jogged down to a nearby park and had a great time.

tidbits

Sleeping Baby

Since Beckett’s 3 month birthday (April 29th) he has been sleeping through the night. And I’m not talking just a 5-6 hour stint. We’re going for 11-12 hours each night. Lately it has been about 9:30pm to 9:30am. So, here’s a shout out to my little sleeper who continues to amaze me with how well he’s figuring out this whole ‘life’ thing.

Digital Scrapbooking

Two people got me interested in this new (and fabulous) way to scrapbook. First, Logan’s wife, Paula emailed me once asking if I knew anything about ‘digital scrapping’. I didn’t. Next, I was looking on Suzanne Hart’s blog and she had some links. SO…I started looking around and reading up on it. Well, let me tell you. I have found a new hobby. It is awesome. I have had so much fun learning about it and playing around. Here are a couple samples of things I’ve tried. More to come…

Frozen Grapes

Nathan and I have found a new treat. Frozen grapes are our new favorite thing. Take a bunch, put them in the freezer for an hour or two and voila! You have a wonderful tasty, frozen, yummy treat. You should all try it out.

My New Toys

First of all, for mother’s day, Nathan got me an IPOD Nano which I love. I bought an awesome pink armband for it on Ebay (for $3) and I’m set to go. This toy, along with my new jogging stroller make for a fun run. I have now been running (or should I say walking and jogging) 5 days a week for 2 and ½ weeks now…and I’m loving it! The jogger is awesome, Beckett loves it, and all around it is just fabulous.

Happy Birthday to a Special Girl

Couldn’t finish this post off without giving a shout out to one of my favorite girls. Lacher turned 18 today. Whew! I (along with several young men) didn’t think this day was ever going to get here :) She’s legal!!! I’m so glad that it finally did. I love you Lacher and hope you know how special you are.

As Promised...

I had a wonderful mail day today. Went to the mailbox and found so many treats. Nathan got a birthday present from brother Logan, I got a letter from Lacher, and my mom sent me the pictures from our weekend to Utah for Beth and Ty's Graduation. So, here are some fun ones from the weekend. I was a loser that weekend and didn't take very many picts with Nathan's family. Better next time. :)
My beautiful sister posing by the infamous BYU sign.
I love Beth so much. Isn't she beautiful!
Beckett is sporting the BYU hat for effect. It didn't match the outfit, but we didn't care.
Juliana is getting so big. Her and Tyler are expecting a little girl on August 26th. Fun times!
It was so fun to see Dillon for the last time before he leaves on his two year mission to Nirobe Kenya. He has about a month and a half until he leaves. He is both excited and nervous.
Beth was Valedictorian in the Neuroscience department at BYU. This is the write up posted in one of the buildings on campus. She constantly amazes me.
They did it!! Whoo-hoo!!!
And last but not least, this is Beth and her boyfriend, Brenan. He is such a wonderful guy. We grew up together, and the more I get to know him the more I like him. They are so cute together.

Nerfer

Even though it is Mother’s Day coming up, and not Father's Day, I have been thinking a lot about Nathan and want to share a few of my thoughts. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband, who looks after and cares for me and works so hard to provide for our family. He gets up each morning without complaint to work an insane amount of hours and then comes home and patiently listens to me complain about my insignificant problems and helps take care of Baby. The other night I was watching him play with Beckett. He was singing songs and reciting rhymes and I couldn’t help but smile at him. I love him for so many reasons. He is smart, funny, kind, strong, and soft (not only around the middle-but in the gentle way). He makes me smile everyday. I am blessed to have such a partner to spend this life and the eternities with. I love you sweetie.

I don't have a lot of pictures of our weekend with our families, however, here are a few with our friends Arch and Shantay, and Zach and Keri. Arch and Shantay had a little baby girl, Zalie Jaide a few weekends after Beckett was born, and we just found out that Zach and Keri are expecting! Yay for babies! The last picture is one for the books. Here is the four generation picture of all my Roberts men! I love them all.

becketts sweet photo shoot...

Sorry about the wait- Beckett and I have continued our world traveling and this past trip took us to Utah and Idaho. We were in Provo for a few days to celebrate Tyler and Beth’s graduation from BYU and then we were off to Idaho Falls where Hayley (Nathan’s cousin) got married. It was so fun to see our families and to be able to spend some more time together. However, the pictures for today are of Beckett’s awesome photo shoot in Canada. I just got them from my mom and wanted to share with all of you. Enjoy!

Shout Out: My Little Lacher

I've been moved. Moved to shout out to my little, and only, sister Rachell (who shall hereafter be referred to as Lacher). I've never shouted out to someone on this blog, or any blog for that matter, and I hope to not offend the many people in my life worthy of a shout-out who have not received one. But no one else worthy of a shout-out pays me rent every month, either, so I guess this is fair.

Young Lacher came to us a starry-eyed youngster, recently graduated from Rocky Mountain High School, home of the Grizzlies. You see, young Lacher was a simple country girl, some might say a cockeyed optimist, who got herself mixed up in the high-stakes game of of big city life. A tough way to start off, I know. And though it seems like she's been with us for an eternity ;) it has been a mere three months. In that three months, we've shared a lot of experiences, and food, with Lach, and we're going to miss her.

Lacher has actually been with us longer than Beckett has. She got here two days before Beckett was born and has been a big help with that transition (to Lindsay-- I've been at work). She was always willing to lend a hand, change a diaper, and even stayed up with him a few times.

We've done a lot together: floor seats at LA Clippers, many Lost and Office episodes, me rocking Lacher's world lawn-bowling at Roxbury Park, corn-on-the cob at Venice Beach (my treat), cruis'n the Miracle Mile, me rocking Lacher's world at Scrabble, watching Serendipity (I let her pick it out, obviously), Mulberry Street Pizza (my treat), dinner at Jack Sprat's (and ridiculously good tips for less-than-stellar waitressing), mini-road trip to San Diego (the greatest city in the world) and suffering through BYU's loss to the Aztecs, me rocking Lacher's world biking on the Santa Monica Strand, exploring the Hollywood Hills and the Boulevards, luxury box at the Dodgers game (my treat, indirectly), and short-lived diets (no treats here).

Notwithstading some difficult moments (multiple hair-dyes, trying to feed Beckett ice-cream at 2 weeks old, the super-glue incident of '07), it's been a great run. Lach, you're a special girl and the best little sister a big brother could ask for. You're beautiful, intelligent, and fun. I appreciate your good example, the idiosyncracies that are peculiar to only you (who in the world is scared of birds and flower petals for goodness sake?), and your desire to do what's right and improve in all aspects of your life. The big-bottomed line, and I think I speak for the three of us you'll be leaving here in LA when I say this, is that we love you, we're going to miss you, and we wish you the best as you move on to the next phase of what will certainly be a happy and wonderful life.

PS Don't forget April's rent.

Ode to my family...

So, about a month and a half ago, Nathan's family came out to visit us and see Beckett. I meant to post pictures about their visit, but forgot to. So, better late than never. Here are some pictures of the fun trip we had together. It was great to see them and for everybody to get a 'Beckett' fix. It was so nice of them to make the trip out here and we appreciate all of their love!
Sweet Russell--such a great Uncle. He loved holding Beckett, and was a natural.
Me and Momma Miriam, in the back of the car, laughing our heads off at something. Not sure what. We all went down to the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica and walked around. We left Nathan Russell, and Grandpa Roberts with Beckett and they had a little manly bonding time.

We also went to the beach and practised our ballet moves. Jks...it was a fairly decent day, however the water was freezing. Here Papa Smurf is showing us his 'moves'-look at those toes...and that's sand under those feet-a tough move.
